ENHANCE ANY ROOM WITH hardwood FLOORING

HARDWOOD FLOORING CONTRACTOR, FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT

Ranked by Janka Hardness Rating

The term hardwood applies to varieties of wood flooring that are made of 100% genuine wood.  The hardwood family of floors is large and varied in color, hardness, cost and performance.  Be aware of two distinct forms:  Solid and Engineered.

Solid hardwood is just that.  It's 100% solid wood (normally 3/4" thick), which is typically nailed or stapled to a wood sub-floor.  Engineered hardwood is also 100% wood, however, it is manufactured by permanently bonding together multiple layers of solid wood in a cross-ply construction.  Engineered hardwood is typically 3/8" thick and designed to have superior strength and moisture/humidity resistance.  Engineered flooring can be installed over wood concrete or an existing floor.  Just like solid hardwood, most engineered hardwood floors can be refinished, if need be.

COLOR & BEAUTY

Selecting the best hardwood floor for your home is always a matter of preference and personal taste.  Color plays a major roll when deciding to purchase hardwood floors.  Be sure to take home samples and observe the color of the wood with your homes lighting, as well as natural light.  Lighting in one room can be dramatically different than other areas of your home, so be sure before making your final selection.

APPEARANCE & DURABILITY

The species of wood influences its appearance and durability.  Whether your taste is rustic, traditional or contemporary, Anatolia offers a wide variety of styles and surface textures to meet your needs.  Explore the many looks available; from wide-plant, hand-scraped rustic looks to narrow strips of sophisticated elegance.  Not all species of hardwood floors are equal in hardness.  If the room is a high traffic area, consider one of the top 5 listed.  There are quite a few other species of wood (eg bamboo, Brazilian Maple, Cork, Cumaru, Douglas Fir, Cypress, Purple Heart, Wenge).  Just way to many to list!
